hurmmm...its a hard question to answer right... before we talk mo deeper about this feng shui belief, lets talk what is feng shui means for...

Feng shui is an ancient Chinese system of aesthetics believed to use the laws of both Heaven (astronomy) and Earth (geography) to help one improve life by receiving positive qi is an active principle forming part of any living thing. Qi is frequently translated as "energy flow". The original designation for the discipline is Kan Yu literally: Tao of heaven and earth.
Historically, feng shui was widely used to orient buildings, often spiritually significant structures such as tombs, but also dwellings and other structures, in an auspicious manner. Depending on the particular style of feng shui being used, an auspicious site could be determined by reference to local features such as bodies of water, stars, or a compass. Feng shui was suppressed in China during the cultural revolution in the 1960s, but has since seen an increase in popularity.

The Feng Shui Elements.

Everything in the world according to the Chinese belongs to one of the five Feng Shui elements or energies, those being fire, earth, wood, water and metal. These elements are believed to affect everything we do. There are five different ways that Chi energy can be manifested. In our horoscopes we have most or all of the five elements. The quantity of each element determines our personalities and degree of success in life. It takes a highly skilled astrologer to successfully balance and interpret the effects of these five elements in our horoscopes.

Wood

Wood is creative and innovative. If we have a large amount of this element in our charts, we will express ourselves creatively in some way. Wood can be pliant and bending (willow) or strong and unyielding (oak). Wood is sociable and community minded. Wood also represents the colour green, the season spring, and the direction east. Wood also represents birth and early childhood. In the eastern part of the Forbidden City in Beijing the buildings were covered with green tiles, because they housed the young prince.

Fire

Fire gives energy and enthusiasm, but can also be a sign of danger. When too much fire is present, it can be destructive. Fire warms and cheers, but it can also burn and destroy. FIre is the element of the natural leader. Fire represents red, summer and south. Fire represents the growing years before puberty.

Earth
Earth gives stability and also relates to real estate and legacies. Earth is patient, just, honest and methodical. However, it can also be smothering and demanding. Earth represents the colour yellow, the center and the teenage years.

Metal
Metal (also frequently referred to as "gold") indicates harvest, business and success. This is usually financial success. On the negative side, metal can also indicate a sword or a knife and be destructive and violent. The color is usually white, but can also be gold. It symbolizes autumn and west. Metal represents the adult years. In the palace at Beijing, the empress had her quarters in the western wing and the walls were painted white.

Water
Water indicates travel, communication, and learning. It also relates to literature, the arts, and the media. Water can be both gentle (soft rainfall) and violent (a hurricane). Water nourishes all living things, but can also gradually wear away the hardest rock. It represents the color black, winter, and north. Water represents the final years, old age.

The term “bagua” (or “ba gua”) is derived from the book of the I-Ching, a sacred text used to tell the future. But while the word may sound foreign or unfamiliar to you, ‘Feng Shui Bagua’ is one of the most basic and fundamental tools of Feng Shui for Feng Shui beginners or anyone who wants to get initiated into practicing Feng Shui.

An ancient Chinese term “bagua” means “eight areas” (“ba”=eight, “gua”=area) and Feng Shui bagua is a map or chart that relates the various areas of your life to the 8 sections of your living space. These eight main sections of a space are represented by what are known as “guas” of the bagua map. The bagua map can also have a ninth center section that corresponds to the 8 major corresponding life areas. So in this way the layout of bagua map shows the nine main energy centers that we value the most.

The map is used by plac ing e it over a floor plan of the space we’re being design ed ing or fix ed i ng for problems . With the help of the map, users can and learn how to emphasize pinpoint the areas which that need our immediate attention so that they can be enhanced by Feng Shui practice.

The Eight Life Areas of Feng Shui Bagua

The Feng Shui bagua is the most valuable tool of Feng Shui used to help understand how environment relates to the various aspects of life. Wealth, reputation, love, family and health, travel and helpful acquaintances, career, wisdom, children and creativity are the main life areas; Each can be represented by a corresponding area on the bagua map.

The center bagua is reserved for all other areas. As a result, the Feng Shui bagua can represented by a bigger square divided into 9 smaller squares called “guas", which are arranged in three rows of three. The look is similar to that of a set of floor tiles, a game board or a window. Though the Feng Shui bagua has a deceptively simple appearance, it is a powerful blueprint for all the changes you wish to enact in order to have a better life.

‘Feng Shui Bagua’ the key points
  • Bagua Feng Shui helps you to divide your living space into 9 sections that mirror the gua distribution. This enables you to see the specific relationships between parts of your house (or parts of a room) and the different aspects of your life.
  • When dealing with a pressing problem, you should first determine which or the eight life guas it fits in. For example, if you are having a fight with your daughter, that would fall into the children gua, whereas dissatisfaction with your salary would relate to the career and wealth guas.
  • After you determine the problem area, overlay the bagua map and see which portion of your home requires an intervention in order to correct the imbalanced energies.
  • The Feng Shui bagua helps you to understand where you should be making enhancements to improve problem areas and which parts of the home you ought to focus on
  • Individual guas have unique personalities, symbols, and associated elements. When you know about each element and its meaning, the bagua tells you how can you make healing enhancements to your space using one or more elements.
  • Feng Shui study helps you make proper associations between various areas of the home and decorative objects and uses them to bring about healing by correcting the pressing problem.

This Simbol(Yin-Yang) represents the ancient Chinese understanding of how things work. The outer circle represents "everything", while the black and white shapes within the circle represent the interaction of two energies, called "yin" (black) and "yang" (white), which cause everything to happen. They are not completely black or white, just as things in life are not completely black or white, and they cannot exist without each other.
While "yin" would be dark, passive, downward, cold, contracting, and weak, "yang" would be bright, active, upward, hot, expanding, and strong. The shape of the yin and yang sections of the symbol, actually gives you a sense of the continual movement of these two energies, yin to yang and yang to yin, causing everything to happen: just as things expand and contract, and temperature changes from hot to cold.
